The Center for Optics and Photonics, CEFOP, was created in September 2009 and is located at the University of Concepción.
CEFOP is composed of 22 scientists, physicists and engineers, working in collaboration with more than 40 students, of which 15 are doctorates.
In the Optics and Quantum Information research line, the researchers conducted experimental studies in quantum information theory and foundations of quantum mechanics.
In the Laboratory of Optical Tweezers, a team of young researchers, work on perfecting the technique of handling micron particles using light.
The DOAS, Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy, is one of the optical instrumentation developed at the Center for remote monitoring of air quality.
Through its Remote Sensing Technology Laboratory, the Center has a station of capture, processing and advanced data modeling.
By processing satellite images, CEFOP provides specific information to different industrial sectors.
The Opto-electronic line is focused on research and development of multidimensional optical sensor and radiometry.
