Quantum Information

This line deals with the theoretical and experimental research of fundamental problems in quantum mechanics, as well as its possible applications in the real world. In particular, it carries out experimental investigation on the transmission of high-dimensional quantum states and entanglement, through optical fibers used for telecommunications. One of our projects is the creation of a prototype of quantum cryptography for completely secure communications. The line also seeks to continuously expand their research topics through the incorporation of new technologies, or through the generation of new experimental capabilities, as in the mixture of waves in the interaction of rubidium atoms with electromagnetic fields. It also considers the exploration of theoretical models, like the probability theory for consistency, in an attempt to understand the foundations of quantum mechanics.
